ESCAPIST

Yes---- we have an escapist in the house.  Blake has learned to get out of his crib!!!!!!  (On November 21st to be exact).  I can't believe I haven't posted about this earlier, but to tell you the truth, it really took us off guard and left us scrambling for solutions.

Blake's old crib.

After falling getting out of his crib three times in a row, we decided we needed to make a change.  Especially since Blake's crib is off the ground quite a ways.  I have to admit that I was terribly saddened by this new skill-----and can I even say, FREAKED OUT!

Eric and I knew from the beginning that a toddler bed wouldn't keep Blake in his bed.  Actually, a 5 point harness would possibly be the only thing that would work.  But then again, he's been known to get out of those too.  (Maybe we should call him "Houdini").  We opted to move an extra full size bed out of the guest room and into his room.  We thought that would be the best transition.  However, we never expected Blake to FREAK OUT while taking his crib out of his room.  He hung onto the side rails and screamed!  It was the sadist thing I've seen from him and it really took us by surprise.  After getting out of the crib on his own, we assumed he would be fine with the transition.  Apparently we were WRONG!

Currently, he is sleeping in his "big boy bed" just fine.  We're still in a little bit of a transition period of staying with him for a little while till he goes to sleep.  Starting this week, that will be changing as well.  But the best part of all of this.................he now cuddles with us so much more!  And for that I am forever grateful!  These are the moments that I never want to forget!!!!!!

Blake loves playing and flipping around in his new big boy bed.
