WELCOME TO THE WORLD, BABY LAYNE!

I woke up this morning not feeling the best.  Blake and I have a cold and I was up all night long coughing.  Shortly after starting to get ready for the day, I realized I needed to call the nurse.  Since being put back on bedrest because of low amniotic fluid, most of my intense contractions had subsided, mostly because of the huge amounts of water I had been drinking.  But today the contractions were back and fairly strong again.

My OB was out of the office until the afternoon, but the office wanted me to come in right away to be seen by one of the other OBs, Dr. Kosler.  They had me do a series of three tests.  The first was to check to see if I was leaking amniotic fluid--negative.  The second was to be put on the monitor to check the heartbeat of the baby and my contractions---everything looked good.  Fantastic!  From those two tests I concluded I was not having a baby today!  Yeah!  However, the third test was another sonogram to check my amniotic fluid levels.  There was definitely a sense of concern from the technician as she said she needed to share my results with the other OB and call my regular OB, Dr. Dameron, since my fluid levels were so low.  I had in my mind that I would most likely be getting IV's to bump up my fluid levels and be put in bed.  However, after stepping out of sonogram room, I was informed that Dr. Dameron just happened to be in the office and was talking to the other OB to see if she could assist with my c-section later on.  WHAT??????  A sense of panic started to set in.  There was no way they were doing a c-section on me while I was sick----coughing-----and almost three weeks early.  Luckily, Dr. Dameron took me into a room where she explained the severity of the situation and said this had to be done TODAY!

Dr. Dameron sent me right over to the hospital to be admitted and to put me on IV's until she could do the c-section.  I quickly called Eric since he wasn't with me and told him of the news.  No one will ever know how grateful I am to have such an AMAZING husband.  He's always so calm and helps me through the times I need him the most.  He was able to get in touch with his mom so she could come take care of Blake and he headed to the hospital.

Here I am looking very calm--thanks to Pinterest keeping my mind off of things.  In all honesty, I was terrified for my second c-section.  I'm so thankful for all of the people saying prayers for peace of mind.
Eric all suited up.  Literally, he's wearing a suit (minus the jacket) under his scrubs.
