WELCOME 2012!

Goodbye 2011-----Hello 2012!

I have to say that I'm ready for 2011 to be behind me and looking forward to a better 2012----without bedrest or back surgery.  As tradition goes, I made black eyed peas to properly ring in the new year.  Growing up,  my family ALWAYS ate ham and white beans for good luck on New Year's Day.  However, to tell you the truth, I didn't care for them at all.  Now, I've changed my tune a little and really appreciate the tradition.  No matter what is served, I always looked forward to going to my Grandma Hitt's house.  Recently, I've switched to making black eyed peas and let me tell you that this recipe is delicious!  This year, the Engle family stopped by unexpectedly, and we were thrilled that they did.  Perhaps the best compliment was having 2 1/2 year old Caroline eat two bowls of it.  She's allowed at our house--ANYTIME!  :)
