The other night I found myself staying up until 3:30 in the morning. Partially to do curriculum work for my elementary school---and partially to watch the first set of news crews reporting this terrible tragedy in Haiti. All I could do was pray and cry. My heart just goes out to everyone that has been affected by this event.
Islande, the Haitian at my grandpa's mission, was able to call the other night to give more of an update. Everything at the mission is fine. However, Islande has a house in Porte-Au-Prince which is gone. But as we all know, a house can be replaced. I just can't begin to understand the strength the Haitians will need to get through this tragedy. Please continue to pray!
We were also thankful to hear that our own mission group from church, including our preacher and his wife, were not injured during the earthquake. They were unable to fly out of Haiti, but were able to get to the Dominican Republic and fly home safely later this week.
I've also been researching some ways to help out in this time of need. Darby's blog listed a great way to donate handmade items on Etsy-- called CRAFT HOPE FOR HAITI. I encourage you to get involved any way you can. Every little bit makes a difference.
